This tour will give you the opportunity to explore the recently renovated Opera del Duomo Museum.
The museum displays the original artworks of the Duomo, Bell Tower, and Baptistery that have been removed from their positions from the façades and thereafter replaced by copies.
The highlight of the tour is the deep emotion that we feel and breathe walking in the new rooms, where the combination of art and faith is an experience beyond words. We start with the Sala del Paradiso, where the original bronze doors created by Lorenzo Ghiberti, known as the Gates of Paradise, and the ancient façade of the Cathedral by Arnolfo di Cambio, are perfectly displayed. We then proceed into a very intimate room of the museum to admire Donatello’s finest wooden sculpture, the Magdalene, a new and special section of the museum dedicated to the female world. The tour ends with the most famous artwork of the museum with the unfinished Pietà by Michelangelo, that will be the unforgettable memory of the tour.
Please dress accordingly to the dress code of the religious site.
