Our expert chauffeur will pick you up at your hotel accommodation or any other place you prefer, and will drive us up the viale dei Colli (avenue of the Hills) until we reach the panoramic Piazzale Michelangelo.
This magnificent Piazzale was designed by Giuseppe Poggi and was built when Florence was the capital of Italy and the whole city was involved in a urban renewal.
The Piazzale is known for being an extraordinary observation platform of the city. The view of Florence in all its beauty, from the Forte Belvedere to Santa Croce Church, will take your breath away. The square, dedicated to the famous Renaissance artist Michelangelo, displays the copies of some of his most famous works, which are preserved in the Museums of the city: the David and the four allegories of the Medici Chapels of San Lorenzo.
This copies are made of bronze, while the originals are all made of white marble. The driver will then drive us to San Miniato al Monte Church (St. Minias on the Mountain), one of the best examples of Romanic in Florence.
The church dedicated to the first martyr of the city, will charm you with its mosaic and unique geometry of the façade which entwines green serpentine and white marble. Under the high altar we will find the crypt, the oldest part of the church, characterised by the magnificent groin vaults.
Our chauffeur will now bring us back to the city centre where we will see the artistic treasures/gems that the city holds starting from the Duomo complex.
Here, in the well known Piazza del Duomo, we will admire the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore with its coloured marble panels in various shades of green and pink bordered by white, crowned by the famous Brunelleschi’s Dome, the Giotto’s Bell Tower and the Baptistery of St. John which beauty is increased by the famous Gate of Paradise.
Out tour will continue in Piazza della Signoria the central square of the city, home of the civil power with Palazzo Vecchio and the heart of the city's social life.
Our last stop will be one of the most famous bridges in the world: Ponte Vecchio, which became known worldwide because of the typical goldsmith’s shops that make this bridge unique of its kind.
