As Christmas approaches, several museums in Florence will operate on special schedules. On Tuesday, December 24th, both the Uffizi Gallery and the Accademia Gallery will be open with reduced hours, while Palazzo Vecchio will welcome visitors as usual, from 9 AM to 7 PM.

The Museo Novecento will also open its doors from 11 AM to 8 PM, as will Santa Maria Novella from 1 PM to 5 PM, and the Stefano Bardini Museum from 11 AM to 5 PM. Palazzo Strozzi, hosting the “Beato Angelico” exhibition, will be open from 10 AM to 8 PM.

25th December: Christmas Day in Florence

As per tradition, most Florentine museums will remain closed on Christmas Day.

Opening Hours of Museums from December 26th to 31st

From December 26th through the end of the year, all major museums will be open as usual. The Uffizi and Accademia galleries will follow their regular hours, except for their weekly closure on Monday, which falls on December 29th, along with the museums of Palazzo Pitti and the Boboli Gardens (with varying hours for the gardens).

Palazzo Vecchio will maintain extended hours from 9 AM to 7 PM throughout the week, while the Museo Novecento will continue its 11 AM to 8 PM schedule. Santa Maria Novella and the Bardini Museum will be open as well, and the Stibbert Museum will open on December 26th from 10 AM to 6 PM, and again on the 31st.

December 31st brings some changes: both the Uffizi and the Accademia will be open with reduced hours, while Palazzo Vecchio will close early, at 2 PM.

1st January 2026: Museums open on New Year’s Day in Florence

On the first day of the new year, January 1st, many museums will remain closed, including the Accademia, the Uffizi, the museums and galleries of Palazzo Pitti, the Boboli Gardens, the Museo di San Marco, and the Archaeological Museum of Florence.

Nonetheless, visitors will still be able to enjoy Palazzo Vecchio, which will be open with reduced hours from 2 PM to 7 PM, along with the Museo Novecento and Santa Maria Novella, both of which will be fully open. The Stefano Bardini Museum will also welcome visitors on New Year’s Day.

We remind you that museum tickets can be reserved in advance, and guided visits are available in all major Florentine museums.
