Inside the garden there are <strong>about 1000 varieties of roses<\/strong> and other plants, including <strong>350 species of old roses<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The story of the Rose Garden<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Rose Garden is located right underneath <strong>Piazzale Michelangelo<\/strong>, in viale Poggi. It covers about 1 acre divided into terraces that offer quite an <strong>unique view of Florence<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was <strong>commissioned in 1865<\/strong> by Florence Municipality to architect Giuseppe Poggi, who was in charge to transform the Renaissance Florence into the Capital of Italy.&nbsp; The garden was designed following the French style and <strong>opened to the public in 1895<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What to see inside the Rose Garden<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Giardino delle rose is marvelous and is reach in beautiful views and corners :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"550\" height=\"412\" src=\"https:\/\/exclusiveconnection.it\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/caption-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-102\" srcset=\"https:\/\/exclusiveconnection.it\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/caption-1.jpg 550w, https:\/\/exclusiveconnection.it\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/caption-1-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Questa foto di Folon e il Giardino delle Rose \u00e8 offerta da TripAdvisor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Japanese oasis called Shorai<\/strong>, that was realized by Japanese architect Yasuo Kitayama in 1998 as a donation by the city of Ky\u014dto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The<strong> 10 sculptures in bronze <\/strong>and<strong> 2 sculpters in plaster <\/strong>by Belgian artist<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jean-Michel_Folon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> <strong>Jean-Michel Folon<\/strong><\/a>, that were located there in 2011 thanks to a donation of the artist&#8217;s widow to the city of Florence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Practical information<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The garden is free and open every day from 9am to 8pm from May to October. In low season it has reduced schedules to check on the <a href=\"http:\/\/servizi.comune.fi.it\/servizi\/scheda-servizio\/il-giardino-delle-rose\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">official site<\/a>.
