A captivating place, rich in history and artworks, with breathtaking views of the city. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A must-visit destination in Florence!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Bit of History<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Originally built as an oratory dedicated to Saint Michael in the 9th century, Orsanmichele was a Benedictine convent for a long time. Later, it was transformed into a grain market, and in 1284, Arnolfo di Cambio constructed the grand loggia for trade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1290, the &#8220;<strong>Madonna del Grano<\/strong>&#8221; fresco was added, bestowing numerous miracles and <strong>making Orsanmichele both a place of worship and commerce<\/strong>. Inside, a marvelous and <strong>majestic tabernacle by Andrea Orcagna<\/strong> holds Bernardo Daddi&#8217;s Madonna delle Grazie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1569, Cosimo I de&#8217; Medici transformed the first floor into an archive, and since then, it has always been a place dedicated to culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Museum today<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>After recent renovations, <strong>Orsanmichele has become a new museum in Florence, part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bargellomusei.beniculturali.it\/\">Bargello Museums<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image size-large wp-image-843\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/exclusiveconnection.it\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/2-orsanmichele-1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-373\" srcset=\"https:\/\/exclusiveconnection.it\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/2-orsanmichele-1.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/exclusiveconnection.it\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/2-orsanmichele-1-225x300.jpeg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Vista sul Duomo da Orsanmichele<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>With the <strong>entrance ticket (costing \u20ac8)<\/strong>, visitors can explore three museum spaces: the <strong>ground floor featuring the astonishing tabernacle<\/strong>, the <strong>first floor housing original sculptures by great Florentine masters<\/strong>, and the <strong>second<\/strong> and last floor <strong>offering a breathtaking view of Florence<\/strong> and its main monuments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The museum is open from 8:30 am to 6:30 pm on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, while on Sundays, it opens from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm, and closes on Tuesday.
